Bio of Ron Duchesne
As a Service Technician & Supervisor of 25 years (now retired), I have been in thousands of different homes. When it comes to the structure and utilities of a home, there isn't much I haven't seen. From electrical wiring, heating, ventilation, foundation to insulation, I have experienced the right way and the wrong way to build and maintain a home. I understand the implications of problematic conditions.
By the age of 23, I gained the experience of building my first new home. Over the course of 26years, I have experienced first hand how time changes a home, why some features endure and why others fail. Renovation has been one of my best teachers. I bought two houses (both over 50 years old) for the purpose of renovating and reselling. I was well educated by the challenges of those experiences and want to apply the knowledge I have gained to help you make an informed decision.
In the spring of 2006 I built another home. I attended an R 2000 work shop in Halifax, offered by the Nova Scotia Home Builders Association. I challenged myself to build an energy efficient home under the Energuide for the new home program. Building a modern home to such standards was another great learning experience and served as an interesting contrast to the home I built 25 years before. The Energy audit completed exceeded the efficiency level target.
I have completed a Home Inspection Certificate of Completion with Carson Dunlop and Associates. The same program offered by Dalhousie University, in Halifax. I have also met all requirements for PHI status with the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors.
I am confident that armed with training, experience, attention to detail and know-how, the role of a home inspector suits me well and will serve you well. I look forward to inspecting your home.
